Our ethos is quite simple, that running is for everyone, regardless of their size, shape or pace. Many of us have been in that situation where we feel we're the slowest one that everyone else has to wait for and we never want that to be the case on one of our runs. Lockdown brought home to us that, in some ways, running is our secondary activity. The friendship and companionship that running with others brings is what most people missed when we weren't able to meet.
Some of our most frequently asked questions are below. Please get in touch if you'd like to find out more or come for a run/walk with us!
Got a question? We’re here to help.
Absolutely nothing. We don't want there to be any barriers to anyone taking part in our sessions, which is why membership, and our run sessions are completely free-of-charge and will continue to be.
All of our run leaders hold the UK Athletics Leadership in Running Fitness qualification (LiRF). They are supported by a significant number of Jog Derbyshire trained coleaders.
We meet on Mondays and Wednesdays at 6.30pm at The Market Place in Ripley. Runs at these sessions are around 5km in distance, mostly (but not always) on tarmac. Our walking group meets on Wednesday at 6pm. We also operate a Friday evening session, which has come to be known as the 'Friday Fun Bus', on which we vary the starting locations around the Amber Valley area, covering roughly 4-6 miles. We usually operate a weekend run too, where the distance is longer and most suitable for those training for events such as half marathons and beyond.
At the moment, no. We use the Run Together app/site for you to book places on our runs. Most people seem to find this is relatively easy to do. We can't allow anyone to run who hasn't booked using this method as it's important that we have an accurate list of who has been on our runs.

The Rogue Rabbits will be a more varied run session. There may be a bit of run/walk, or you might be treated to some jeffing. Rabbit sessions are designed to follow on from our Sofa to 3k course (although completing this is not a pre-requisite) and encourange those graduating from it to keep up with their running and progress towards the main group. They are also suitable for those wanting a gentler session, those returning from injury, or those that are happy with a more steadier run.
The Rogue Rover sessions are our usual Rogue offering. They are social runs, will likely be full of the usual laughs and banter. Quicker runners will be asked to backtrack at pre-determined points to keep everyone together. If you've graduated from our Couch to 5k course, you will be fine running with the Rovers!
We have an online shop available here.
We've decided not to have a club colour, but instead you can have our design printed on any colour you choose! We have ladies and men's running t-shirts available in both long and short sleeves, as well as vests, hoodies, zip hoodies and rain jackets. Personalisation is available on most items at no extra cost and postage and packing are free if you spend over £40.
We also have Rogue Runners buffs available for £6. If you'd like one of them, please contact us.
Our leaders have extensive experience of running, from 5km races to ultra-marathons, they've been there and done it!
We have a programme of varied sessions across each week. You're sure to find something you love!
Everyone is welcome at Rogue Runners Ripley. It doesn't matter what size, shape, pace or ability you are. Come and give it a try!
It's not just about running. Many of our members report the best thing about our group is the people they run with. Many have made friends for life through our group!
